Description

This volume is part of a biographical series published in the early twentieth century that recounts the life and activities of John James Audubon, the renowned American ornithologist and painter. It focuses on the latter part of his life, particularly his return to the United States and his efforts to extend his research and artistic pursuits across various regions, including Florida and the South Atlantic. The narrative documents his travels, interactions with notable individuals, and the physical and professional challenges he faced during this period. The account aims to provide a factual account of Audubon's experiences as he engaged in naturalist exploration and illustration, emphasizing his contributions to American ornithology and the broader scientific community.

The second volume covers Audubon's activities from his return to America through significant parts of his explorations and personal interactions, offering detailed descriptions of locations, encounters, and logistical details related to his work. It situates Audubon's pursuits within the context of his broader efforts to document American birdlife and contribute to scientific knowledge in the early 19th century. The account is grounded in factual reportage, referencing specific events, places, and figures relevant to Audubon's life during this period.
